Commedia dell’Arte Performance & Workshop

“The Year 10’s were introduced to the history and origins of commedia through and engaging and interactive performance and workshop. Rosa and Christian’s expertise on this stylised theatrical tradition was demonstrated through their authentic portrayal of various masked characters. The workshop was particularly insightful for students as they were able to relate these historical stock characters to current contemporary portrayals on TV and film. In the drama based workshop, the students were able to improvise and play with the masks provided. They thoroughly enjoyed the day, having fun whilst experiencing the history of 16th Century Italian theatre.”
Lily Di Bari, Italian Coordinator, Killester College

“Once again, thank you so much for coming to our school. The students who participated in the workshop were very engaged and enthusiastic. All the Year 9’s loved the show! Very funny!”
Genelle Lentini, Drama and Theatre Studies Coordinator, Cranbourne East Secondary College

“Rosa worked collaboratively with the Year 6 students to create and perform Commedia dell’Arte scenes. She was highly energetic and dynamic in the way she taught the skills of commedia and showed the students how translate these skills to their own work. Rosa allowed the students to explore in an engaging and experimental way. This ultimately gave the students ownership and responsibility for their improvisations and final performance. Rosa assisted the children in the refinement and development of their ideas, and inspired them with her passion and purpose for the dramatic arts. I cannot express how fortunate we were to work with such a wonderful and knowledgeable Drama teacher, it is an experience both the students and I will always be grateful for.”
Rebecca Bettiol, Drama Specialist

Playmaking, VCE Solo & Ensemble Performance Workshops

“My senior kids are still talking about the workshop and they thought you were amazing. They thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. You encouraged them to take risks, to be creative and to commit, in a way that really challenged their thinking about physicality and characterisation. We were all sorry that the time went so quickly – we will definitely have you back!”
Mandy Calterwood, Christian College, Geelong

“Thank you so much for the non-naturalistic mask workshop. All the students had such positive responses and have said that they really enjoyed the experience. I really thought it was such a fun and affirming session where all the students, no matter what their ability, felt as though they could try new things in a safe environment. Rather than theorising so much about the non-naturalistic style you were able to make it very physical and practical – so improtant for students at this stage in their VCE Drama course, I know they all left really feeling as though they achieved a and learnt a lot.”
Leonore Marshall, Drama Teacher, Girton Grammar, Bendigo

Holiday Programs

“My 13 year old daughter always loves attending the holiday sessions and from what she tells me there is always something new and interesting to learn. She enjoys meeting others with similar interests and trying out new characters in the mini productions. With the support and encouragement of the teaching staff at Make A Scene, and the other children who attend, I have seen her confidence grow and I have watched her become more at ease with herself on stage. Thanks for putting on these great workshops during the holidays.”
Ariane, parent
